Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women and it is quite well known. According to the researches made by Nation Cancer Institute, women whose period begin before age 12, who has menopause only after 55, who have never been pregnant, who get pregnant in late 30 and women who have never breast feed child are at higher risk of breast cancer.
Breast cancer occurs when some breast cells begin to grow abnormally. Causes of breast cells abnormal growth includes obesity, a family history of breast cancer, drinking alcohol and the lifestyle you are leading also effect on it.
- Lump under the arm and around the breast
- Change in the size and shape of the breast
- Skin dimpling
- Peeling, scaling, crusting or flaking of the pigmented area of skin surrounding the nipple (areola) or breast skin, nipple retraction and blood and abnormal fluid discharge from nipple
- Abnormal breast pain
Women should self-exam for breast after each period and test if there is any lump in armpit and in the breast. Women can reduce the risk of breast cancer by drinking alcohol in moderation, doing exercise regularly, maintaining healthy body weight, eating low fat and nutritious foods.
Breast Cancer survival rates have increased due to earlier detection and getting treatment as soon as it is diagnosed. Hence, women can fight off breast cancer completely by doing breast self-exam every month and being aware of it.
